Cookie Policy

Nice S.p.A. (hereinafter also just “Nice” or the “Company”) provides information below concerning how cookies work in the website www.niceforyou.com (hereinafter also just the “Website”), also pursuant to the Italian supervisory authority’s Decision “Simplified Arrangements to Provide Information and Obtain Consent Regarding Cookies” dated 8 May 2014 (hereinafter also just the “Decision”).

1) Browsing data

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate the Website acquire, during their normal operation, certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the Internet communication protocols. This information is not collected to be associated with identified persons, but by its very nature could, through processing and association with data held by third parties, allow users to be identified.

This data category includes IP addresses or domain names of the computers used by users connecting to the site, the addresses in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) notation of the requested resources, time of request, method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in reply, the numerical code indicating the status of the reply given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the operating system and computer environment of the User. These data are used only to obtain anonymous statistical information about website use and to check its correct functioning. Data could be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the website: except for this possibility, the data themselves are stored for the times defined by the relevant regulations and for the time strictly necessary in order to provide the User with the service requested to ensure sending of the communication.

2) Types of cookies Definitions

Cookies are small text files (letters and/or numbers) that enable the web server to store information on the user’s browser that can be reused next time the user visits the website (session cookies) or later, even after several days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to the user’s preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (pc, tablet, smartphone). Cookies are useful because they enable a website to recognise the User’s device. They have various purposes, such as enabling smooth browsing from one page to another, remembering favourite websites and, in general, improving the browsing experience. They also help to ensure that ads viewed online are more targeted towards the User and their interests. Depending on how they work and their purpose, cookies can be classified as technical cookies, profiling cookies and third-party cookies. This Website uses only technical, profiling and third-party cookies.

a. Technical cookies

These cookies are used solely in order to carry out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service that has been explicitly requested by the user to provide said service. They are not used for further purposes and are usually installed directly by the website owner or manager. These cookies can be divided into: browsing cookies or session cookies, which ensure normal browsing and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies in that they are used directly by the website manager to collect aggregate information on the number of users and the pattern of visits to the website; functional cookies, which allow the user to browse as a function of a series of criteria chosen so as to improve the service to that same user. Prior consent of users is not necessary for such cookies to be installed.

b. First-party profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are aimed at creating user profiles and are used to send ads in line with the preferences shown by the user while browsing the Internet. Due to the highly invasive nature these cookies can have in users’ private sphere, European and Italian legislation requires that users be informed appropriately on their use so as to give their valid consent.

c. Third-party profiling cookies

While browsing the user may receive cookies from other websites or web servers (third-party cookies). This happens because there may be elements on the Website such as images, maps, sounds or specific links to web pages of other domains that reside on servers other than the one in which the requested page can be found. In other words, these cookies are set up by other website or server managers and not by the website itself. These third parties may, in theory, set up cookies while you visit the website and therefore obtain information regarding the fact that you have visited the website.

3) Nice’s personal data protection policy

For any other information on the policy adopted by Nice to manage its website, please refer to the Personal Data Protection Policy available here.
